The Goal:

(1) HAVE FUN and (2) earn as many points as possible by completing a variety of different tasks throughout the city between noon and 5pm on the day of the event.

How Do Teams Earn Points?

Teams earn points by returning to the finish line by the end of the event (5:00pm) and completing the check-in process with a staff member. Points are earned for:

  • Completing tasks correctly during the event (associated point value for that task awarded)
  • Turning in “Sneak Peek” completion cards during check-in at the end of the race (see section below for details)
  • Checking in early (before 4:30pm) – the earlier you check in, the more bonus points you earn (but the less time you have to complete tasks on the course)
  • Cross the finish line by 3:00pm to earn an additional 20 points, 3:30pm for 15 points, 4:00pm for 12 points, and 4:30pm for 10 points.

Sample Tasks (obviously won’t be on the real list…):

  • 3 Points: Return with a digital picture of both teammates making fish faces in front of the Georgia Aquarium.
  • 10 Points: Complete a 15-minute volunteer project at the XYZ Charity headquarters building and bring back the “completion certificate” they will give you.
  • 6 Points: Return with a digital picture of both teammates pointing at a specialty Georgia “Breast Cancer Awareness” license plate
  • 8 Points: Using the stationary found in the lobby of The Atlanta Hotel, write a thank you note to one of our men or women serving in active duty overseas and bring it to the finish line.

“Sneak Peek” Tasks

As an incentive for signing up early, all registered teams will receive an email one week before the event containing 5 of the tasks (and associated point values) that will be on the official task list the day of the event. Show us that you’ve completed those tasks prior to the event when you pick up your race numbers, and the event staff will provide “Sneak Peek” completion cards that you can turn in at the finish line to get credit for those points without having to do them during the actual event. These tasks are completely optional, but they will allow you to start the day with quite a few points if you’re willing to put in a little extra work ahead of time.

Teams registering during the week before the event will receive the Sneak Peek clues shortly after registering and also have until the race to complete the tasks.

All Sneak Peek tasks will be on the event list the day of the event and may be completed by all participants during the event regardless of when they signed up.

The Schedule:

  • 11:00-11:55am: Teams check-in at the event location.
  • 12:00pm: Each team will receive an envelope that contains a list of approximately 25 tasks of different difficulties, time commitments, and types. Each task has an associated point value with it. Return to the finish line before 5:00pm with a task completed correctly and you’ll be awarded points for that task. Complete as many or few tasks as you’d like before returning to the finish line to check in.
  • 5:00pm: Last time to cross the finish line to be eligible for prizes.
  • 5:30pm: Winners announced and prize selection ceremony. The team with the most points earned chooses first from all available prizes, the 2nd place team chooses 2nd, etc. until all prizes are distributed.
