*cape not requiredGiving101 is an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to developing the next generation of Givers, Civic Leaders, and Philanthropists. Our programs educate the public about charitable giving, inspire individuals to act, and provide people with the tools, information, and resources to make a difference in the lives of others.
We were founded by four siblings in 2006 under the name of our flagship program, The White Envelope Project (see our story below). Since its inception, the program has attracted national media attention that has resulted in exposure to more than 5 million people in over 100 countries.
We continue to be entirely volunteer-run and donor-supported and are proud to be able to spread this message of giving around the world without any permanent staff, office space, etc.
Giving101 primarily targets America's "next generation" teens, twentysomethings, and thirtysomethings. We believe that this population WILL change the world: the question is not IF but HOW. Despite this focus, our core message - that everyone, regardless of who you are, where you are from, or how much you make has something to give - is a universal one that appeals to people of all ages, backgrounds, and geographies.
It’s like The Amazing Race with a charity twist. In this five-hour urban scavenger hunt, teams of two race all over a city collecting items, taking pictures, and completing micro (5-10 minute) community service projects to earn points. The teams with the most points at the end take home some sweet prizes.
